Guided visit Lugo
What will you do? :
What can you expect?:
Located in the center of the Biosphere Reserve “Terras do Miño”, the millenary city of Lucus Augusti offers to the visitor a wide diversity of natural and historical resources. The UNESCO has declared two monuments of Lugo as World Heritage of humanity: the Roman wall and the Cathedral. Lugo is also one of the most important cities in the Primitive Way to Santiago.
In Lugo we can visit Roman heritage, like the wall, a bridge, baths or mosaics; we can go to one of the many museums in the city: “Domus de Mitreo” (an old temple dedicated to the oriental god Mithras), “Casa dos Mosaicos” (the house of the mosaics) or the Provincial Museum; or we can see the Cathedra, one of the most beautiful in Galicia.
After the walk we can enjoy the gastronomy of Lugo in the “zona de viños” (an area in the centre of the city full of bars and taverns), where we can try the famous “tapas” of Lugo: praza do Campo, rua Nova, rua da Cruz… In this area we can explore the beautiful and winding streets and squares of the city centre.
You can’t leave Lugo without having a walk by the river Miño. The promenade goes for 18 km in the city, going through some parks, next to the health resort, where it is located the roman bath, the roman bridge or the traditional neighborhood of A Ponte. During the walk next to the river we could spot the natural richness of the area.
